Where you work, whether employed or self employed is your occupational ground. The business that you do is your ground. This is where you earn a living. Don’t handle a place of work casually as if you are working for man. It is your ground.till and keeps it. God command you employee always to obey your earthly masters, not only to please them when they are watching you but all the time; obey them willingly because of your love for the Lord and because you want to please him. Work hard and cheerfully at all you do,just as though you are working for the Lord and not merely for your masters, remembering that it is the Lord Christ who is going to pay you, giving you your full portion of all He owns. He is the one you are really working for. And if you don’t do your best for Him,He will pay you in a way that you won’t like – for He has no special favorites who can get away with shirking.
If you are employed in a supermarket it is because you have yours inside you. If you are driving someone’s car it is because you are entitled to have your own. So be very careful because where you are currently working is God’s college for you to learn. So wherever you are working, do your work as for the Lord rather than for men.
I have seen people accusing and criticizing the government and yet they are working there, and I ask myself why can’t they come out of it and accuse it whilst they are outside. There are also those who criticize and curse the organization where they are working. Why criticize and curse where you earn your living instead of praying for it?
How many CEOs, mangers,or Supervisors can rebuild the troubled organization into the most profitable company? How many preachers can revive a scattered and deterred group of people into a Mega church? How many presidents can bring their country to a place where other nations can admire that nation?
Jacob the son of Isaac learned from his father. He was working for a wicked employer who was his uncle,he worked with all his might and God blessed him.You can work under a wicked boss and still be blessed. For twenty years he worked for Laban faithfully. Laban’s ewes and she-goats didn’t cast there young. Jacob didn’t eat Laban’s flock. He took not to Laban the carcasses of the animals torn by the wild beasts;he bore the loss of it. Laban required of Jacob all that was stolen, whether it occurred by day or by night. By day, the heat consumed him because he was a manager and a worker. By night, he froze in the cold and his sleep departed from his eyes because he worked as a watchman.
Jacob knew the greatest secret of success which is to own the cause. Own that Job even if you are employed. Act as if you are the final in bringing solutions. Most of the time I hear people shifting blame to the government about everything. I ask them who the government is.
People destroy properties and buildings thinking they belongs to the government not knowing their own money has done that work and will again rebuild through their own money whilst paying tax.Students in colleges destroy properties and school buildings thinking they belong to lectures, not being aware that the fees they pay do the work and their own parents will pay tearfully in rebuilding again.
God’s will, is for all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our savior. One of the truths for people understand is what God meant when He told the first man to cultivate the ground. To cultivate means to make a place better than you found it. Many leave a place worse than they found it. If you join any organization, work hard to make it better than the way you found it.
If you marry make your spouse better than you met him/her. In many places wives looked older than their years because their husbands mar them instead of making them. Abraham cultivated his wife Sarah to the point of Pharaoh King of Egypt admiring her at her old age because she was very beautiful. There are also some women who don’t know that God created them to comfort husbands as it is recorded in the Bible about Isaac and Rebecca. Isaac brought Rebecca into his mother’s tent, and she became his wife. He loved her very much, and she was a special comfort to him after the loss of his mother.
Cultivate your ground for it is God’s channel for your blessing.
